My client is s one of the world's leading specialist mining contractors. They offer a comprehensive portfolio of services including underground and surface mine construction, shaft sinking, raiseboring, mine contracting, raise mining, mine development and engineering. They are currently looking to recruit for a Environmental Technician for there diverse and forward thinking team based in North Yorkshire.

* Required: Diploma in Environmental Science
* Preferred: Degree in Environmental Science or related field

Work Experience

* 3 years' experience in similar role within the construction sector.
* Knowledge and experience of implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 environmental management systems is essential.
* Relevant IEMA qualification

The Role

Reporting to the Environment Manager, the Environmental Technician is responsible for the implementation of the inspection, monitoring, reporting and auditing activities required by the Environmental Management Plan and any associated plans and procedures to prevent, control and report on the environment impacts from the construction process. Solid experience in managing environmental matters whist working with a principle contractor on a large construction site is key.

You will show fantastic enthusiasm, drive and self-confidence which motivates and inspires others

* Undertake environmental inspections of a construction site and record the results and prepare regular reports (for example weekly and monthly reports).
* Identify improvement suggestions, non-conformance and investigate and report complaints and incidents.
* Able to coach and influence behaviors which lead to excellent environmental practice.
* Collect soil, water and groundwater samples and arrange with analysis of those samples with a third party laboratory.
* Use a monitoring probe to take in field measurements.
* Work with the noise and vibration team to monitor, assess and manage noise and vibration impacts.
* Analyze, present and interpret environmental data and prepare reports and presentations based on findings.
* Review environmental aspects and impacts in response to project change, working with the Environmental Manager and Principal Contractors.
* Prepare for internal and external audits of the work undertaken in implementing the EMP.
* Attend meetings.
* Keep and maintain excellent records.
* Task management.
* Maintain confidentiality with respect to company and client information
* Safety sensitive: having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment; following Company health and safety standards.
