Job Role: Council Tax and Benefits AssistantSalary: Up to £15 per hour Location: East LondonHours: 36 per week 9am - 5pmAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Council Tax and Benefits Assistant based in a Local Authority in East London. To support the collection of the right council tax from the right person at the right time, and the payment of the right benefit to the right customer at the right time, by ensuring that the support necessary for the delivery of the service is available at the right time and in the right place.The successful candidate will need knowledge, skill and experience in the following areas: To undertake routine administrative work, including the compilation and monitoring of data.To order goods and services, estimate expenditure and process invoices, maintaining stock levels and keeping appropriate records, to enable the smooth running of the serviceTo assist with building maintenance by appropriate liaison with facilities management and support agencies.To provide general administrative support to the Visiting and Inspections Teams, developing and updating databases, compiling statistics and carrying out associated tasks.To provide specific Health & Safety support to the Visiting and Inspections Teams, including before and after appointments. To be responsible for assessing possible risks and alerting relevant parties of any possible dangers. To accompany Officer's on visits.To provide Customer contact support, including arranging/ rearranging appointments and acting as main point of contact for Stakeholders.To organise, carry out and monitor all tasks associated with the preparation, scanning, recording and indexing of documentation relating to Council Tax and Benefits.To manage the returned post work tray arranging visits, suspending benefit and suppressing Council Tax recovery as necessary.
