Family Support worker - Barry

I have a great opportunity for an experienced support worker, supporting families and young children around the Vale of Glamorgan area. You will be working with Action for Children as a key part of the family support team, responsible for supporting young children who have been separated from their parents.

This would be a 3 month post with the potential to extend. The contract is a maximum of 37 hours per, working between the hours of 8am - 5pm. The role will be based in the Vale of Glamorgan area and access to your own car is required.

* To deliver care directly undertaking and supervising tasks related to the physical (including personal care), social and emotional needs of service users.
* arranging and supervising contact with parents
* filing contact reports
* To communicate with patients, carers and health professionals in a professional manner
* To record any changes in the patients circumstances, condition or symptoms and notify other health care professionals as necessary
* To be aware of, identify and report any safeguarding concerns to the Team leader, Service Manager and or Independent living Operations Manager and ensure all reporting procedures are followed in accordance with policies and procedures.
* To preserve the dignity and confidentiality of the service user at all times
* To liaise with and provide support to the service users family and carers throughout the episode of care and support

You will have at least 6 months experience of working within a residential setting. Other requirements include:

* A valid DBS
* Experience in safe guarding children
* NVQ qualification Level 2 is desirable but not necessary
* Driver with access to own vehicle
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Understanding of issues relating to the care and support of vulnerable children
* Ability to work alone without direct supervision and as part of a team
* Understanding of and the ability to maintain confidentiality
* Able to work and travel throughout the area as appropriate to the needs of the job
