Responsibilities:



* To assist with the operation and maintenance of the school's manual and computerised financial control and information systems, updating financial records and assisting in the production of financial information and reports for the School Business Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Trust.
* To undertake basic analysis of financial information, using computer spreadsheets if necessary, as required by the School Business Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Trust.
* To undertake routine accounting operations including receiving and processing orders, checking and processing invoices and requests for payment, raising cheques for suppliers and maintaining and balancing petty cash accounts and purchase card.
* To input and check data relating to overtime claims and salary changes on a monthly basis.
* To assist with the administration of the school's bank accounts, recording and balancing monies for banking, maintaining records and checking statements. Taking money from students and issuing receipts.
* To maintain the school lettings diary, liaising with premises staff re bookings, sending out invoices relating to lettings, music tuition, etc.
* To provide financial and administrative support for delivering organisational activities such as school trips and visits in close liaison with the Education Visits Coordinator.
* To respond to account queries from staff and suppliers, resolving problems and using discretion in referring issues to the School Business Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Trust.
* To undertake the calculation, charging and advising of any inter-departmental expenditure, resolving any queries arising.
* To assist in providing financial analysis, statistics and returns for the DfE and ensuring compliance with DfE regulations and statutory requirements.
* To undertake any administrative and general office duties, including filing, photocopying, maintenance of both paper and electronic filing and record systems and other administrative support to assist in the efficient operation of the school.
* To generally assist the School Business Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Trust or other responsible officer in the administrative arrangements of school events and the provision of efficient support services to the principal, governors and teaching staff of the school.
* As a term of your employment you may reasonably be expected to perform duties of a similar or related nature to those outlined in the job description.
* All Ralph Allen School associate staff are expected to train as first aiders and to take part in school duties and general school life.
* Self-evaluation of all the above will be carried out as a continual process.

Requirements:



* 2-3 years experience of financial or accounting work, preferably in the public sector, and evidence of knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work with initiative in a proactive way.
* Excellent ICT skills including Word, Excel, databases, spreadsheets.
* Good general level of education including 5 GCSEs, including those in English Language and Mathematics.
* Experience of using SIMS.net or equivalent system.
* Experience as an accounting technician or relevant experience in a financial environment in local government.
* Experience of Resource 3200 or a similar system.
* Previous experience of working in a school.
* Word processing to at least RSA I or CLAIT or IBT spreadsheet/ database qualification.
* Website inputting (training will be given).
* Accuracy and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and ICT skills, including databases and spreadsheets, as well as being numerate.
* Good organisational skills; efficiency.
* Willingness and ability to work flexibly within the support staff team.
* Self-motivation and honesty.
* Good health and timekeeping.
* An ability to relate to and get on well with young people.
