Finance Analyst

Are you a fully qualified, proactive and dynamic Finance Professional looking for a new challenge?

A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Finance Analyst in the Finance Business Partnering team in Port Talbot. This is an exciting time to join an area of the business going through a significant transformation and investment programme.

This is an initial 12 month Maternity Cover contract.


Within this role, you will work with key business areas, supporting and advising tactical and operational decision making through insights that drive better business performance. The incumbent of the role will provide proactive, expert financial direction and decision making advice to partnered leaders, supporting or challenging with alternatives as appropriate and acting as a trusted sounding board.

You will assist in the preparation of business cases and evaluations appropriate to area supported (e.g. capex) and take end user accountability for the development, maintenance and operation of specified systems and processes within their area of responsibility. The successful application will be required to have system knowledge to report and analyse financial information in a non-standard way, responding to stakeholder queries in an accurate and timely manner.

You will also be expected to utilise best financial practice in evaluation and monitoring of financial data appropriate to area supported (e.g. cost base) in the context of optimising our results. Within the role, you will ensure all non-standardised reporting requirements occur in an accurate and timely manner, such as OGSM trackers, PIT scorecards, project initiatives, contract trackers etc.

The Role

We are recruiting for a Senior Group Reporting Analyst based within the Reporting and Group Control department at our site in Port Talbot. The jobholder primary responsibility is to provide a management accounting service to the Tata Steel Europe (TSE) Executive Committee and Board.

To carry out this role successfully, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

* Produce the monthly management accounting for TSE, including the sub-divisions of TSUK/TSN and Others. This includes the production of a Flash result, , 'Monthly Report' and numerous other reports and analysis.
* Be part of forward-controlling process for TSE, including the production of monthly Latest View updates, and Annual Plans.
* Support key other ad hoc reporting requirements, including issues related to changes in group structure, questions arising from parent companies or external bodies.
* Produce and financially evaluate Financial forecasts for TSE.
* Preparing key financial data to provide to the mergers and acquisition department and key external stakeholders, aligned to the ongoing work associated with the Joint Venture with tk.
* Act as a role model for colleagues in the area and provide strong leadership on health and safety.
* Manage and promote a right first time environment and culture.
* Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with best practice standardisation, identifying and providing support to align where appropriate

Requirements / Personal Specification

* Ideally the job holder will hold a recognised professional accounting qualification or equivalent.
* Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues, including those in other businesses and external to TSE
* Fosters a culture of high performance and achievement.
* Plans effectively and allocates appropriate resources.
* Proactively monitors and reviews results and responds accordingly.
* Ability to manage change and identify opportunities to implement improvements.
* Have strong IT skills.
