Fire and Asbestos Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fire and Asbestos Officer based in a Housing Association in South East London.

Post: Fire and Asbestos Officer

Rate: Starting from £40,000 per annum depending on experience, plus £1,300 per annum Essential Car User Allowance

We are looking for an experienced Fire and Asbestos Officer to provide a specialist fire safety management and risk assessment service and a competent asbestos auditing and assurance service and provide expert advice to the wider group on fire management.

The main duties of the role are as followings;



* To champion 'best practice' and operational compliance across the department and the wider trust, empowering managers and developing core competence in its employees.
* To complete the fire and asbestos risk assessment programme as directed and provide a high standard of professional work producing high quality, technically robust risk assessment documents.
* Work with the Senior Fire Officer to continually improve the Fire Risk Assessment process, utilise the FRAs produced to provide remedial works data in a format to enable business teams to provide clear work schedules for specialist trade services.
* To liaise with relevant external bodies, enforcement authorities and contractors as required, in support of the continuance of business objectives and in response to incidents as required.
* Ensure H&S, regulatory, legal & governance compliance for areas under the job holder's control.

Requirements



* Experience and knowledge of Fire Safety legislation.
* Sound knowledge of the Control of Asbestos (CAR) legislation.
* Level 3/4 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Management.
* Able to access roof spaces via ladders within Health & Safety guidelines/control measures.
* Willing to work towards Asbestos Removal Contractor Audit process.
* Willing to work towards Level 3 Certificate in Asbestos Removal for Supervisors.
* Full clean driving licence and car owner.
