Are you a Gauge Lab Technician who is looking for a new opportunity to work in Cumbernauld on a 6 month contract? Then this may be the perfect opportunity for you!

Description:


Reporting to the Quality Engineer the Gauge Lab Technician is responsible for maintaining the requirements of the in-house Gauge Lab, including all disciplines associated with measurement design, creation, release, record keeping, re-call, evaluation and adjustment of gauges within the facility as required by ISO 9001:2015.


RESPONSIBILITIES


* To design, generate and introduce gauging for defined measurement or setting requirements of component processes.
* Obtain specification of components or processes from on-line drawings, manuals, spec sheets or other corporate data sources to develop and generate suitable gauging.
* Determine critical characteristics for component or process (and where applicable also with mating components) in order to calculate gauge specification.
* Use geometrical and/or other mathematical formulae to calculate sizes, angles, tolerances etc for features not dimensioned in drawings, manuals or data sources but that are calculable from other dimensions that are displayed.
* Calculate gauge feature dimensions and tolerances that will generate the ability to evaluate or measure the defined component features.
* Select the type of gauge and perform measurement to achieve the required results with consideration for accuracy, variability, robustness, environment, gauge wear characteristics and re-call period.
* Record, correct, adjust gauges to bring back into specification as required.
* Maintain master gauges and where applicable contact authorised external agencies for independent calibration.
* Design, conduct and analyse MSA activities on gauging
* Conduct audits on all in-plant gauge equipment including test cell based gauges.
* Generate and Maintain KPI's related to Lab


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE


* Related engineering and/or Gauge Lab background experience necessary in an engineering environment.
* Experience of measurement devices i.e. CMM, Faro Arm including associated software, and proficient with all manual gauge types i.e. micrometres, air gauging, dial indicator, pressure gauges.
* HNC/HND in Engineering discipline or Engineering apprenticeship preferred.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED


* Knowledge of all gauge measurement systems and use of general workshop/laboratory tools
* Technical report writing skills.
* Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and standards.
* Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
* Proficient IT Skills (spreadsheets and database)
* Excellent mathematical skills.
