My client is one of the most acclaimed house builders in the UK. Their main focus isn't to build new homes at record speed. They take their time to make sure they are right for the customer and right for the surrounding area, paying great attention to the exterior designs, brickwork and detailing which will be enjoyed and admired for generations to come. They are currently looking to recruit for a Group Commercial Manager for there diverse and forward thinking team based in Chesterfield Rugby.

Qualifications and Experience:

* A relevant qualification or extensive experience in commercial management.
* Extensive knowledge and experience of programme delivery, budget forecasting and change and innovation management.
* Extensive knowledge of Customer Service requirements.
* An extensive knowledge of quantity surveying and construction processes and related financials/commercials.
* Ability to influence effectively at all levels including key Senior Executives, Directors and other Stakeholders.
* Excellent communication (written/verbal) and presentation skills.
* Excellent planning, project management, organisation and decision-making capability.
* Strong problem solving and analysis skills.
* Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to differentiate between conflicting priorities/issues to identify underlying causes.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively.
* Good awareness of codes of practice that impact on construction and/or design matters e.g. NHBC, Building Regs.
* Ability to work closely with Commercial Directors and all regional and support functions.
* Health & Safety Training in accordance with Group Health & Safety Policy and Procedure.



To support the Group Developments Director in protecting the integrity, reputation and sustainability of the groups approach to the commercial operational practices, standards and controls and linkages with, and influence on, associated finance activity and wider business practices.


To manage and implement the management, control and reporting of all development/build-related expenditure across the Group to meet our Business Plan, future growth requirements, commercial/cost control standard operating procedures and in doing so working with the Regional Commercial Directors and Commercial teams to achieve the same in each subsidiary company.


To assess and advise on the overall effectiveness in the Regions of Commercial activity associated risk management, control and governance processes, working with the group Developments Director, Group Finance Director, the Commercial Control Manager, commercial auditor and the regional management teams to effectively manage and influence those processes to support and enhance the Group's ability to meet its Business Plan and improve margins and growth expectations.

* As a member of the Group Team take a 'whole company' perspective to the performance of the Group by positively influencing and enhancing the profitability and operating effectiveness of the business.
* To monitor and influence the Region's Commercial activity to ensure that such activity will deliver the Group's Business Plan targets and evaluate and take action to provide transparency on Commercial performance, particularly in respect of build cost management, PFA's, land appraisals and all related matters.
* To manage and implement the delivery of appropriate strategies agreed with the Group Developments Director for the delivery of the necessary commercial practices, controls, standards and results required to meet the Group's Business Plan and manage and report on an effective system of monthly scrutiny of PFA's in the Regions.
* To attend regional Commercial meetings as required to provide support and information to ensure regional activity is effectively planned, managed, implemented and controlled to meet the Group's requirements.
* To manage and collate the commercial regional reporting to support the Group Developments Director, to ensure the commercial reporting structure & procedures are consistent with clarity across all regions to allow the business to grow efficiently as we open future regional offices.
* Ensure all Group operating, governance requirements, policies and processes are followed and reported on.
* Ensure the Commercial departments are fully engaged and work with internal and external colleagues and third parties in the process of meeting customer service and quality control targets and introducing improvements as necessary, working closely with all relevant colleagues.
* To analyse commercial audit reports to address any key risks of activity addressing and reporting on any matters that undermine and/or put 'at risk' the Group's strategic and/or operational objectives and standards.
* Examine external trends in Commercial matters, assess their relevance to Group and recommend changes to standard operating practices, policies and procedures via the appropriate governance mechanisms.
* Ensure that the Company maximises its compliance with Group deals in association with the group procurement team.
