Coordination and execution of the Medium Term plan (MTP)

* Review and challenge Business strategy and plan outcomes to recommend optimal course of action across the Group
* Ensure risks arising from the plan are appropriately captured in order to set an appropriate risk appetite for the firm and entity plans
* Work towards a target operating model further enhancing the speed, agility and quality of the MTP process
* Assisting and working with colleagues involved in the internal and external stress testing processes ensuring projections are robust and plausible

Overall purpose of role

This role is to assist with overall MTP coordination as well as the P&L and balance sheet pillar of the Planning process.

* Gathers the MTP requirements, define the relevant milestones and timing in coordination with the different businesses, stakeholders and process owners.
* Assist with the overall MTP program at a Group level working with the different parties to ensure the timely delivery of high quality MTP meeting the various expectations.
* Reviews P&L and Balance sheet of the Group to ensure the commercial story is well understood and coherent with the other components of the plan.
* Distils insightful corporate messages arising from that plan to key stakeholders, including Group Board, ExCo, Group Risk Committee and WFR
* Constructively challenges business plans and recommends areas for optimisation and focus in order to deliver a fully compliant, coherent and optimal plan
* Enables interconnected, coherent plans to support Outlook, planning, stress tests and scenario planning

Key Accountabilities

* Assist with the overall planning program, including the coordination of the different stakeholders and the progress update to management.
* Undertake robust review of business unit plans, with respect to P&L and Balance sheet consequences, highlighting key risks to other areas of the planning framework, ensuring consistency of impact
* Assist with the creation of ExCo, Board and other materials to deliver appropriate MI in a succinct, clear but comprehensive manner distilling key messages to senior management
* Review and understand actual outcomes to ensure deviations from plan are understood and trends and associated impacts are known in advance of future planning cycles
* As part of the wider team, ensure regulatory returns and requests for information are met in a controlled and timely manner
* Assist where required with the overall internal and external stress testing processes including process co-ordination and analytical review

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to identify all options and make a recommendation on the best option for a particular situation
* Experience in financial planning / budgeting / forecasting / stress testing / performance management and improvement or relevant areas
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent stakeholder management skills
* Strong control and governance awareness
* ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in program management
