Job Role: Handyperson/ Caretaker - DERBY

A leading facility management supplier, seeks to appoint a Full time Handyperson\Caretaker to work alongside a team of specialised technicians providing a fully encompassing service delivery plan for our client. The role requires the successful applicant to carry out various roles within the building including carrying out cleaning duties, planned maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks as they occur across the site.

About the role
Handyperson /Caretaker Job Role:

- Assist the cleaning team in daily cleaning duties and PPM's
- Maintaining of custody floor including stripping, sealing, polishing and buffing
- Provide cover to custody area in the event of S&A of the cleaning team
- Carry out replacement of light fittings including tubes and bulbs
- Carry out snow clearance/ gritting as required
- Carry out ceiling tile replacements and or redecoration.
- To clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets drains and clear up spillages where required.
- To ensure gullies and drains are kept free from debris and the site is kept free from litter
- To undertake porterage tasks as required including setting up and clearing away furniture.
- First line maintenance of fixtures and fixings, examples: tightening screws, minor repairs and temporary measures after damage
- Maintain appropriate records where required.
- Carry out escorting duties
- Carry out making good and re-decoration tasks
- Identify spare parts to carry out repairs and order through appropriate channels.
- Inspection and fault finding building fabric.
- Carry out cleaning duties where required to support the cleaning team
- Maintaining of custody floor including stripping, sealing, polishing and buffing
- Assist in the provision of the associated services within the site.
- Provide general support duties.
- Ensure the operation of heating plant, fire alarm systems and lighting systems.
- Carry out and supply meter readings for utility consumption.
- Other reasonable requests when required.
- Call out rota minimum 1 in 3

Who are we looking for?

Handyperson/ Caretaker Requirements:

- Experience as a Caretaker in a busy service environment, with previous experience dealing with building fabric issues.
- Recognised trade qualification would be desirable
- Knowledge of General H&S Regulations, to be able to understand and carry out the preparation of Risk Assessments and producing Method Statements for works within the site.
- Must be experienced and self-motivated and able to identify concerns / defects without direction.
- Reliable. (Through regular reviews of works attendance, attitude and competence).
- Whilst the role is initially based on site there may be future requirements to cover more than one site.
- Basic plumbing/mechanical and electrical experience would be advantageous but not essential
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Must be physically fit as the job involves manual lifting.
- Ability to use initiative in day to day duties.

This role will require the successful applicant to undergo and pass Police vetting in order to be offered the role. The applicant will also be required to be on call on a rota basis.
