The roleAs Head of Building Consultancy at this longstanding and profitable commercial property consultancy, you will be stepping into a brand new role. Established due to the ongoing and increasing demand for building consultancy services across London and the East of England, the decision makers at this wholly partner owned practice plan to develop a specialist consultancy branch to operate collaboratively with their projects, architecture and management divisions to provide a full range of services to their clients. Your role as Head of Building Consultancy will be an autonomous position and an independent one initially as you begin delivering on a range of instructions already requested from long term and established landlord and investor clients. These will generally be professional instructions such as the following:Building Contract AdministrationBuilding Survey & Defect investigationsDilapidationsExpert ReportsParty Wall & Neighbour IssuesReinstatement Cost AssessmentsSchedules of Condition and LicencesYou will work in consultation with the partner responsible for the building surveying directive, establishing and implementing business development strategies which play to both yours and the business's strengths, taking into account existing contacts, potential targets, untapped markets and potential growth sectors. You will take the lead on team development from the start, with recruitment a high priority to meet the guaranteed business pipeline. You will have authority on candidate selection as well as establishing levels / seniority of building surveyor requirements.Your initial work focus will be on industrial and commercial properties across East London, into Essex and Hertfordshire, but you will have ample opportunity to sculpt your longterm focus based on identification of key clients, secure pipelines, and other key business factors. You'll be able to work flexibly in your new role, with a split between home working and the London office, a bright, modern open plan office with great facilities and travel connectivity, just a 2 minute walk from Stratford International Station, connecting to Central, Jubilee and Elizabeth lines as well as London Overground and National Rail services. The rewardsThis role comes with an attractive benchmark salary of £80,000 - £90,000 per annum for someone at a Senior Associate of Director level. In addition to the annual remuneration, you can also expect the following:10% guaranteed bonus for your first year with the business, with discretionary annual bonuses following your first year. Promotion plans - your next promotion plan will be discussed on your start with the business, with internal promotion and progression promoted heavily for this positionEquity stake - You will be offered the option to buy into the business on successful promotion, with the company prepared to provide an equity loan and repayment plan if you don't have the funds to buy in The requirementsTo be considered for the role of Head of Building Consultancy, there will be minimum requirements you will need to meet. They consist of the following:Full professional Membership to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors through the building surveying pathwayDemonstrable experience of managing a team of building surveyors, preferably within a consultancy environmentEvidence of successful business development, including pitching/bidding and securing new clients or workstreamsA comprehensive background of professional survey work including but not limited to dilapidations, pre-acquisition surveys, reinstatement cost assessments, specific defect diagnosis and contract administration in the commercial or industrial sector.
