The Role: Key Stage 1 SEND Learning Support Assistant
We are seeking a resilient, dedicated, and empathetic LSA to work within our Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) classrooms. This role is focused on providing bespoke support to pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), often concentrating on specific pupils on a 1:1 or small group basis. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing the social, emotional, and learning needs of these children, helping them access the curriculum and thrive alongside their peers.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Deliver personalised learning programs and interventions as devised by the Class Teacher, SENDCo, and external therapists.
- Support pupils' communication and social skills development through structured play and guided interactions.
- Assist in the practical adaptation of learning materials and classroom equipment to ensure accessibility for pupils with physical or sensory needs.
- Monitor and record daily progress and any incidents related to the pupil's behaviour or emotional well-being, reporting accurately and promptly.
- Implement strategies to encourage focus, independent working skills, and positive behaviour choices throughout the school day.
- Provide sensitive support for personal care and hygiene needs, respecting the dignity and privacy of the pupil.
- Collaborate effectively with all members of the Key Stage 1 team and specialist staff to maintain a consistent approach.
- Manage and organise the pupil's specific resources and learning aids (e.g., visual timetables, fiddle toys, communication boards).
What We're Looking For:
- Experience providing direct support to children with SEND in an educational setting, ideally at Key Stage 1.
- Strong familiarity with differentiated teaching methods and the use of supportive visual aids.
- An individual who demonstrates exceptional levels of patience, commitment, and reliability.
- The ability to quickly build trusting, positive relationships with young children and their families.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (equivalent to GCSE grade C/Level 4 or above).
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to protecting children's welfare.
- A proactive approach to learning and a willingness to undertake specific, relevant training as required.
