The Role: Key Stage 1 SEND Learning Support Assistant
We are recruiting an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide targeted, specialised support to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2). This crucial role requires a proactive approach, strong relational skills, and a dedication to ensuring our pupils with SEND are fully integrated and able to succeed in the classroom. You will primarily be supporting pupils with more complex needs, often on a 1:1 basis.

Core Roles and Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted learning interventions and structured activities, both 1:1 and in small groups, as directed by the Class Teacher and SENDCo.
- Support the pupil's emotional and social development, facilitating positive peer interactions and managing potential anxieties or frustrations.
- Assist in the implementation of therapeutic programs (e.g., fine motor skills, sensory breaks) under the guidance of specialists.
- Adapt classroom resources and activities to match the pupil's specific learning style and access requirements, ensuring meaningful participation.
- Maintain detailed and accurate daily records of the pupil's learning, behaviour, and progress against their targets.
- Support the pupil's mobility and personal care needs where necessary, following established procedures with care and discretion.
- Promote a culture of independence by gradually encouraging the pupil to take ownership of their learning and routines.
- Contribute to the review meetings for the pupil's support plan (e.g., Annual Reviews, IEP meetings).
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience supporting primary-aged children with complex SEND (e.g., ASC, Global Delay, specific sensory or physical needs).
- Knowledge of differentiated learning strategies and familiarity with the Key Stage 1 curriculum.
- An individual who is highly reliable, resilient, and emotionally intelligent in their approach.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively when supporting different aspects of a pupil's day.
- A qualification related to education, childcare, or health/social care is highly beneficial.
- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and the school's strict safeguarding policies.
