The Role: Key Stage 1 SEND Learning Support Assistant
We are seeking a proactive, compassionate LSA who is committed to supporting individual or small groups of children with identified SEND in Years 1 and 2. This is a highly rewarding role where you will work closely with teaching staff and specialists to deliver individualised support plans, ensuring that every child has the tools, environment, and encouragement needed to access the curriculum and achieve their personal best.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Implement and evaluate highly specific intervention strategies based on pupil's Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) or Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide effective in-class support, helping pupils to understand instructions, manage tasks, and engage with the learning materials.
- Assist in the adaptation and creation of visual aids, communication tools, and differentiated resources to meet sensory or communication needs.
- Facilitate and monitor the pupil's social interactions, encouraging positive peer relationships and play.
- Manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently, using agreed upon positive handling and de-escalation techniques.
- Accurately track and record the pupil's daily learning successes, barriers, and intervention outcomes for review by the SENDCo.
- Provide essential support during unstructured times (e.g., playtime, lunchtime) and assist with transitions between activities or lessons.
- Attend relevant training sessions and contribute constructively to team meetings and pupil progress reviews.
What We're Looking For:
- Significant experience working with children with a variety of SEND, particularly within the 5-7 age range.
- A clear understanding of the developmental milestones of Key Stage 1 and how SEND can impact them.
- An individual who is resourceful, adaptable, and a quick learner of new support strategies.
- Proven ability to build a strong, trusting rapport with vulnerable pupils.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and liaison.
- A qualification in a relevant field (e.g., childcare, education, youth work) is highly desirable.
- Dedication to maintaining high levels of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
