The Role: Key Stage 1 SEND LSA
We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to focus primarily on supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within Years 1 and 2. This position often involves working closely with specific pupils who may have communication difficulties, sensory needs, or complex learning profiles. Your role is vital in facilitating access to the curriculum, promoting independence, and managing a positive emotional environment.

Core Roles and Responsibilities:
- Implement highly individualised interventions and activities based on targets set out in pupil's support plans (e.g., EHCPs, IEPs).
- Assist pupils with personal care needs where required, ensuring their dignity and well-being at all times.
- Support emotional regulation by recognising triggers and using agreed de-escalation strategies calmly and effectively.
- Adapt and prepare resources under the guidance of the teacher, ensuring materials are appropriate for the pupils' specific learning styles and needs.
- Facilitate inclusion by encouraging supported pupils to participate in class activities and interact positively with peers.
- Maintain meticulous records of pupil progress, behaviour, and intervention effectiveness for review by the SENDCo and external professionals.
- Lead structured small-group work focusing on reinforcing literacy, numeracy, or communication skills.
- Liaise effectively with the Class Teacher, SENDCo, and external therapists (e.g., Speech & Language, Occupational Therapists).
What We're Looking For:
- Significant experience working with primary-aged children, specifically with identified SEND needs (e.g., Autism, Speech & Language Delay, Moderate Learning Difficulties).
- A clear understanding of the principles of inclusion and differentiated learning strategies.
- Exceptional patience, resilience, and a positive outlook when facing daily challenges.
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in supporting a pupil's continuous development.
- Relevant qualification in education or childcare (Level 2 or 3 preferred) is advantageous.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in the field of Special Educational Needs.
