Maintenance Person required to join a leading Care home provider in the Wakefield area.

This company has been providing quality care and support to adults and children with learning disabilities, mental illness, complex physical and emotional needs with a goal to provide a settled, safe and fulfilling environment that meets the needs of each individual that they support.

Now seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Maintenance Team based at their Head Office just East of Wakefield.

The Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for completing and ensuring that all aspects of property maintenance, repair and refurbishment is conducted effectively and to a good standard across various locations within the business. All locations are within a 10/15 mile radius.

This will include but is not limited to:

* Regular duties consist of a high level of Joinery and Plumbing within care home environments.
* Be responsible for maintaining the structure and fabric of the homes and offices, repairing and preserving where necessary.
* Responsible for helping to provide safe, cost effective and practical solutions to maintenance issues.
* Work in accordance with health and safety regulations, reporting near misses and RIDDOR where appropriate to do so.
* Maintain the buildings to current legislation standards and to the needs of the business.
* Ensure effective reporting and recording of maintenance issues, so that the appropriate action can be taken in accordance with agreed time frames.
* Provide department data, including mileage claims and receipt reconciliation as and when required.
* Proactively plan, coordinate and prioritise own work activity on a daily basis.
* Ensure all work vehicles are maintained in line with the Driving at Work Policies.
* Participate in projects and other reasonable duties that may be assigned to your role.
* Is available and willing to work flexibly to business needs and any potential emergencies.

We Require:

* A minimum of 5 years proven experience in a Building / Property Maintenance role
* Strong knowledge and experience of joinery and plumbing to "trade person" standard
* Basic knowledge of electrical and gas safety.
* Good standard of education (City & Guilds/GCSE)
* Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations at a day to day working level
* Full driving licence


* Salary £23,000 for a 37.5 hour working week and dependant on experience.
* Hours will be over 5 days from 9 am to 5 pm, with some potential "out of hours" flexibility in case of emergencies.
