Randstad are recruiting for a Mechanical Assembler for a client based in South Bristol. They are a well established company and part of a global group that specialises in manufacturing machinery.
Reporting to the Assembly Team Leader, the role will entail the assembly and commissioning of machines, machine modules and sub-assemblies using engineering drawings and 3D models.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all department procedures
- Assemble parts to the required specification including:
- Machine build
- Modular assemblies
- Sub-assemblies
- Complete all quality documentation required for the tasks
- Identify problems with assemblies / parts and raise any quality issues following the company procedures
- Operate handling equipment and machinery when trained to do so
- Support the sustainment and improvement of housekeeping and health and safety practices
- Support in the implementation and sustainment of 5S standards
- Assist in the achievement of the Assembly operational plan to include on time delivery and build efficiency
- Actively drive continuous improvement
- Any other reasonable request by the line management team
Qualifications
- Apprentice trained
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand Bill of Materials
- Ability to understand mechanical design assembly
- Previous assembly experience in a machine manufacturing environment
- Experience of assembling large fabricated parts to engineering drawings
- ability to handle a variety of parts including sheet metal, machined and electrical components
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good numeracy
- Computer literate
- Hold a counterbalance forklift licence (desirable)
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing (desirable)
This is a full time permanent position with a base salary of £26,000-£32,000 depending on experience + overtime of 1.5x base pay and flexitime hours working Monday to Friday during day time hours.
