job description

Randstad is currently recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to provide planned and reactive mechanical and multi skilled maintenance/repairs to a portfolio of sites within the Region. In the role you will be reporting to and assisting the Account Manager with all aspects of the contract. This position is based in Southampton working across various sites in the local area, working hours are Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm.

Roles & Responsibilities



* Ensuring the efficient and effective operation, maintenance and repair of the sites M&E Plant and Equipment and Fabric Services.
* Compliance with and record keeping for ISO 9001/14001 Quality Management System and management of the Quality, Health, Safety + Environment responsibilities on the site.
* Organise and if necessary assist in reactive repairs to the sites M&E systems.
* Prioritising and delegating reactive and Planned Preventative Maintenance tasks to the area team ensuring optimum levels of service delivery are being achieved.
* Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance is carried out in line with task schedules and industry best practices.
* First line supervision of Specialist Service Contractors, including Induction and signing off minor works listed on service report sheets.
* Formulating, Assessing and Validating Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
* Monthly meetings to be held with client to discuss contract performance
* Monthly team meetings to be held, including toolbox talks
* Operational day to day requirements from client to be managed by Account Manager or his representative
* Accessible for out of hours queries / phone calls to assist operation to the building
* Conducting OP61 & OP63 quality audits at each of the mobile sites in the region on a monthly basis and uploading on the QHSE Management Portal
* Liaising with QHSE or Account Manager when internal audits are conducted
* Responsible for closing out N/Cs following QHSE audits
* Application of organisational policies and procedures.

Education & Experience:



* Educated to a City & Guilds level 3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
* Able to organize work load and manage the completion of the planned & reactive tasks.
* Able to complete and review site specific risk assessments.
* Able to compile and manage the Log Book system and encourage management of the log books through the team.
* Able to be mobile and respond to any urgent queries from the customer which may require site attendance


* Knowledge of current technical standards in relation to Fire Alarm Systems, Generators, Mechanical and Electrical Services, HV & AC and Water Systems Treatment.
* Knowledge of Lifts and associated services
* Excellent knowledge of the operation of Mechanical & Electrical Services and plant.
* Ability to interrogate and operate BMS's systems
* Knowledge of business-critical services i.e. UPS and Comms Rooms etc.
* Client facing, to be able to work in different environments and be able to communicate with different internal and external customers
