Randstad Engineering are currently looking to source a Mechanical Technician to work for a leading car manufacturer based in the West Midlands.

The Mechanical Technician will be required to seek and repair mechanical faults on the vehicle (which may also involve removal and refitting of interior/exterior trim and other components) and use diagnostic equipment for testing and verification process.

Some key responsibilities and tasks within this role include:

* Adhere to work planning sheets/engineering work sheets and Group Leader's instructions
* Manufacture/sub-assembly of relevant components from drawings
* Read and interpret diagnostic equipment output to minimise rework time/costs.
* Record and report faults to relevant areas of Production or Engineering.
* Check that vehicle specifications conform to build requirement/ customer options by referring to the relevant documentation.

Skills & Experience:

* Completion of an appropriate automotive apprenticeship (or equivalent qualification or experience) and have relevant automotive experience.
* Experience of stripping and rebuilding a variety of motor vehicles as a motor mechanic, ideally within an MOT Centre, Dealership or Body Shop environment, or through working for a national breakdown recovery organisation.
* Ability to read, interpret and work with engineering drawings/specification data
* Clean driving licence
* Have effective communication skills including the ability to articulately engage with varying levels of customer / end users
* Basic IT skills
* Candidates should be prepared to work away from their work base, which could include working at another plant or overseas for short periods of time.
