Cosma Casting UK has established a manufacturing facility on a greenfield site in Telford in the
UK. For this new venture, we are looking for an experienced metallurgy supervisor. Cosma
Casting UK will specialise in high pressure die-casting that designs and builds medium to large
aluminium die-cast automotive components.

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Die Casting Business Unit Manager, the Metallurgy Supervisor is responsible for
the supervision of melt production and metal chemistry on-site, ensuring a safe working
environment and satisfying all customer demands. The Metallurgy Supervisor will ensure that the Melt & Metallurgy team delivers consistently against current goals and objectives, focusing on Team Development, Continuous Improvement, Capacity Planning, Launching of new technology and maintaining consistent performance of all
equipment within the area.

Role Responsibilities:

* Safety: Supervise and promote safe practices and work environment in all activities. Conduct Don't Walk By's, as needed, and lead all safety improvements or issues with a sense of care and urgency for the Met lab personnel & all who use the facility
* Ensure all production processes conform to current quality standards
* Manufacture quality parts in time to satisfy customer demand
* Improve production processes and lead improvement teams
* Lead root cause analysis of non-conforming production and implement corrective actions
* Daily organisation of Personnel within the Melt and DCM areas
* Complete performance reviews to improve team performance and flexibility
* Lead team performance via KPI's and OEE to achieve targets
* Work collaboratively to support the customer and team through innovation, lessons learned and best practices
* Use escalation processes and procedures where required for Melt & Product quality issues
* Support process improvement and problem solving meetings as and where required
* Assist Engineering in optimisation of chemistry for ease of processing castings, for mechanical property achievement and for performance of castings
* To be computer literate and able to use MS Office package (Minitab would be an asset)
* Maintain calibrations and records for Lab equipment and production equipment as required by the necessary schedule
* Report any failure of calibrations, advise on any actions required, and undertake re-calibration following rectification
* Ensure that testing processes and procedures are robust, fit for purpose and all equipment and tools in use are well maintained
* Regularly assess Laboratory functions for technical adequacy, report and make recommendations for improvements
* Where product fails testing follow appropriate corrective action procedures as per CCUK Business Management System dictates
* Report into Research & Development team (Promatek) for any issues that require further in-depth resolution or technical feedback
* Develop training and teach relevant statistical and quality methodologies and procedures to department
* Develop inspection criteria, methods, procedures and test parameters for product
* Supervise on shift Met Lab Technicians
* Conduct Performance Management Tool process for development of team
* Manage capacity Analysis of area
* Analyse test data and communicate significant findings, trends, or notable result
* Promote the companies HSE policies across the department and plant

Personal Attributes:

* Metallurgy background - PreferablyAluminium
* Casting experience - Preferably Aluminium
* Proven supervisory experience
* Experience of problem solving
* Use of 5S to improve production environment
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Word etc.)
* Use of KPI's to achieve targets
* Proven experience of managing
* Budgets
* Analytical skills including data manipulation
* Metallurgy or Quality based qualification
