Primary Curriculum Coordinator

Required: August 2019

Location: Shanghai, China

Experience: Must have previous relevant leadership experience

Sponsorship: Single or married teaching couples

Salary: Top salary and package dependent upon experience.

Contract: 3 Years

This is a new school part of a world renowned family of top British international schools and opened to much fanfare in August 2017 where it exceeded all expectations in student numbers and currently has 340 students in its premier year.

This is an international school for Chinese nationals opened in 2017 very successfully and offering a top quality education for students from Grade 1 up to (eventually) Grade 12 (IBDP level) with a potential to accommodate up to 1200 students. Initially the school is open to Middle school level. The school follows an enhanced Chinese and International curriculum developed by Chinese and international education experts and aim to prepare students for the 21st century world

The Elementary School Curriculum Coordinator is accountable, together with the Head of Elementary, for the overall quality of the curriculum in the school. The coordinator is an active and dynamic leader who works collaboratively with the elementary school teachers to create warm, flexible, language rich environments which promote high quality learning, student agency, and independence.

He/she is a collaborative leader who works with others across the grade level and school to develop the school's curriculum and to plan and deliver exciting, academically challenging, inquiry- based units, which are carefully designed to ensure the development of each student's language competencies. The coordinator believes strongly in action research and is committed to participating in and leading professional learning.


* Minimum 4 years' experience in teaching inquiry-based learning (or PYP curriculum) within Elementary school
* Demonstrated success in leading or participating in curriculum development
* A strong understanding of progressive pedagogy
* Effective planning and time management
* Creative and effective use of resources, including education technology
* Ability to maintain student focus and active engagement on learning
* Adaptable to varying contexts and an enthusiasm for working with Chinese colleagues and parents
* Experience in teaching EAL/ELL students
