Principal Planner

*£45 - £55 an hour* *North London*

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Planner based in a Local Authority in North London.


Post: Principal Planner

Rate: £45 - £55 an hour

12 month contract

We are looking for an experienced Principal Planner to provide an excellent, effective and efficient Development Management Service.


The main duties of the role are as followings;



* Coordinate and process a varied caseload customer interactions and major planning applications in particular of strategic size (by definition) and of the most complex and high profile / wide reaching nature.
* Liaise with, as part of the major application process and formal pre-application procedure, a wide range of internal and external partners, stakeholders and interested parties.
* To develop and maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, working practices and procedures.
* To advise on statutory and non-statutory development management matters including collating and recording information to be used by the Council at public hearings, appeals and court cases arising from all types of work undertaken on behalf of the Local Planning Authority.
* To provide high quality and accurate written and verbal advice to service users on pre-planning applications, planning applications, policy interpretation and development proposals.

Requirements



* Completion of a recognised relevant qualification and eligibility for membership of the RTPI.
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of and demonstrable successful interpretation of current legislation and national, regional and local planning policy including emerging legislation and policy and working practices relating to planning and development.
* Extensive knowledge and understanding of development management systems and processes and the ability to work to specified procedures.
* Knowledge, ability and proven track record of utilising performance management techniques and meeting and exceeding planning related performance targets identified for the service with minimal supervision.
