Are you a highly experienced plant maintenance engineer? Do you have experience managing staff across multiple sites? Do you have a good knowledge of PLCs? If your answers are yes, this is the role for you!

Our client, a global manufacturer of building fabrics and sustainable energy solutions, is looking for a Principle Maintenance Engineer. This is a senior role within the business managing teams across the UK and reporting directly into the Central Engineering Manager. Approximately 10% tools-based, the ideal candidate will be time-served with mechanical and electrical experience and knowledge of PLC programming.


* Work to achieve zero accidents.
* To adhere to and control all safety policies and regulations, while working within a safe system of work, including Permit To Work, Personal Protection Equipment, Working at Height, Isolation, Risk Assessment etc. for both the internal team and contractors.
* The adherence to all environmental policies and regulations.
* To challenge and report all unsafe actions and hazards and to lead team to do likewise.
* Take part in accident/incident investigations, helping to put in place solutions and corrective actions.
* Liaise with the Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor to ensure that all activities undertaken comply with Health, Safety & Environmental Legislation.
* Ensure level 3 preventative maintenance tasks are completed in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.
* Monitor the effectiveness of level 2 and level 1 maintenance tasks.
* Reduce equipment breakdown duration (mean time to repair), and reduce the frequency of breakdowns (mean time between failures).
* Support the completion of the fault finding to determine the root cause of failures and identify sustaining actions to prevent re-occurrence. Lead the completion of BDA and 5Whys as required.
* Support installations of new equipment and support special projects to provide technical knowledge for continuous improvement.
* Help develop a team of highly trained maintenance engineers to ensure an efficient maintenance service is delivered to the site.
* Liaise with the Central Engineering Manager reviewing plant and equipment and make recommendations for improvements or spend.
* Support PCS as required.
* Support CIL development.
* Develop knowledge on machines and systems.
* Keep workshop in a safe and organise manner following 5S principles.
* Understand the impact of role / performance on internal and external customers and treat it as a priority. Lead team in achieving like requirement.
* Continuous Improvement
* Continually seek ways to improve the effectiveness of maintenance systems.
* Continually seek ways to reduce breakdown duration and frequency.
* Driven by a culture of 'continuous improvement', through the use of WCM problem solving tools and participation in WCM AM/PM/5S/5Why projects.
* Lead or support improvement projects when nominated and offer possible projects.


* Management experience.
* Degree, HND, or other higher engineering qualification.
* Time-served in an engineering discipline.
* Thorough PLC programming/ controls knowledge.
