Procurement Category Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Procurement Category Manager based in a Local Authority in East London.


Post: Procurement Category Manager

Rate: Circa £350 - £355 per day

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Category Manager to provide a professional procurement service for the strategic procurement of a range of goods, services and works, which meet the needs of the Council and progressively achieves cost savings and other targeted benefits.


The main duties of the role are as followings;



* Support the HOP in delivery of the Council's Procurement Strategy.
* Develop the Category Plan for the allocated category, in particular identifying strategic sourcing options for the sub-categories categories to deliver year on year cost savings and other benefit targets.
* Delivery of the Category Plan through effective deployment of commercial best practice and deployment of innovative ideas.
* Facilitate stakeholder engagement at all levels to identify creative solutions which will contribute to delivering the Category Plan and Council's strategic procurement aims and priorities.
* Provide expert procurement advice & support to key stakeholders to minimise risk to the Council and to support suppliers with processes and procedures to facilitate effective competition.
* The role will involve closely working with key stakeholders to develop the optimum sourcing options for a number areas including ICT, HR and Professional Services and FM services including cleaning, catering, postal services and Security Services.

Requirements



* Experience of working in Social Housing.
* Knowledge of the public contracts regulations and demonstrable experience of delivering savings in the above areas (ICT, HR and Professional Services and FM services including cleaning, catering, postal services and Security Services).
* Full member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent strategic procurement/sourcing experience.
* Professional procurement experience, with a strong track record of success in delivering financial savings and other achievements, and exposure to the nominated category, ideally having operated at a strategic level.
