The Project Controls Risk Engineer is responsible for delivering comprehensive Project Controls functions with a primary focus on risk management and control.
This role requires supporting the Project Controls Manager in all aspects of cost, planning, and reporting. A core function is to maintain the essential Work (WBS), Cost (CBS), and Risk (RBS) Breakdown Structures.
The engineer will actively link identified risks with the project schedule (using Primavera P6) to effectively assess, model, track, and report risks and trends.
They will collaborate closely with Package and Commercial Managers to identify deviations from the performance baseline and facilitate timely corrective actions to maintain control over the project's time and cost objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Integrated Risk Management
- Process Governance: Drive the implementation and maintenance of the project's Risk Management Plan and associated procedures, embedding a strong risk control culture across the project.
- Risk Structuring: Develop, maintain, and integrate the project's Risk Breakdown Structure (RBS) alongside the Work (WBS) and Cost (CBS) structures.
- System Integration: Coordinate the critical linkage between the project programme (P6), cost estimate, and risk management systems (e.g., Prism) to ensure an integrated performance model.
- Reporting & Review: Develop and maintain the Project Risk Register, producing accurate, periodic risk reports and facilitating risk reviews with Senior Project Managers (SPMs).
- Risk Cost Assessment: Support risk owners in assessing and quantifying the potential cost impacts of identified risks.
Performance Baseline Control
- Change Management: Manage the variations and change control process to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB).
- Performance Monitoring: Conduct regular cost checks and trend analysis to proactively identify potential risks and baseline deviations.
- Reporting Support: Prepare presentation materials for Performance Measurement Updates, ensuring transparent reporting with a particular focus on the risk profile.
Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
- Process Adherence: Liaise with various internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure consistent adherence to established project control and risk management processes.
- Controls Implementation: Facilitate the execution of general Project Controls Management processes, emphasizing robust operational control over the Risk Management system.
