A Client Side Project Manager is required in North London to work on Education Projects.

As Project Manager you will be assisting the Director of Property to ensure that construction and refurbishment projects (predominantly schools) are professionally managed, minimising all risks.

Principal duties and responsibilities

Undertake project management, monitoring and building surveying duties. Liaison with team members to ensure projects are delivered, from inception to completion including settlement of the final account, on time, within budget and are on scope.

Liaison with the estate surveyor to negotiate, prepare and issue licenses and leases as required for building works including Title Deed investigation.

Maintain and update current procedures for schools and consultants.

Provide advice on the property portfolio in terms of the suitability, condition, use, sustainability and future long-term capital plans. Develop and maintain an asset management strategy.

Maintain and manage the approved list of external Consultants, including review and appointment for projects.

Provide advice to stakeholders on building related matters, including procurement and statutory compliance.

Advise stakeholders on the maintenance of properties and provide technical, building and health and safety advice either directly or procuring it through external advisors.

Assist with the development of a database for the property asset.

Essential skills/experience/qualifications

1 Chartered Surveyor (Building/Quantity Surveying) (MRICS) or Chartered Builder (MCIOB) or Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or Equivalent, OR substantial Project Management/Building/Quantity surveying experience.
2 Significant construction and refurbishment experience and a sound knowledge of traditional building techniques.
3 Experience of project management projects from inception to completion and final account on projects up to c.£20m, reporting on progress in terms of programme, scope, finance timescales and identifying risk factors and their mitigation.
4 Experience of appointing, working with and managing consultants on a variety of works including refurbishment and new build.
5 Excellent communication skills including report writing and presenting on programme, cost and quality to variety of Committees and audiences.
6 Significant knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and its application to construction through the CDM 2015 regulations together with an appreciation of the impact of various H & S regulations within small local semi-autonomous groups.
7 Knowledge of funding arrangements for education projects.
8 Familiarity with Microsoft products and confidence with Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Project an advantage.
9 Working knowledge of statutory legislation, building regulations and Town Planning legislation and administration including completion of application forms.
10 Carry out asset/condition surveys on diocesan properties.


1 Experience of construction projects within the education sector at both primary and secondary school level.

2 Good communicator at all levels including with senior and operational staff, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
3 Strong technical and systems aptitude and willingness to learn and share knowledge.
4 Inquisitive with the ability to take initiative.
5 Team player willing to support other team members and internal stakeholders.
6 The post holder must have access to a car (car mileage allowance paid).
