Key Responsibilities:
- Safety First: Adhere to our stringent health and safety policies and safe working practices.
- Precision Assembly: Perform defect-free assembly of parts and components using various hand and power tools, following documented procedures.
- Powertrain Installation: Install prototype, pilot, and production powertrains into machines, under engineer's instructions.
- Vehicle Operation: Operate a range of off-highway vehicles, including Hydraulic Excavators, Back-hoe Loaders, Telehandlers, and Track Type Tractors.
- Instrumentation: Equip powertrain installations with sensors such as thermocouples, pressure transducers, and speed pickups.
- Diagnostics: Diagnose and repair faults in powertrains and machines.
- Technical Drawings: Work from engineering drawings (electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic).
- In-House Manufacturing: Use in-house facilities for machining, welding, fabrication, and electronic lab work to manufacture parts from drawings.
- Electrical Integration: Produce electrical looms for powertrain and machine interface.
- Travel: Travel to various test and development sites, including some overseas locations.
- Workplace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe work area in line with 5S and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM).
- Continuous Learning: Undertake necessary training and further learning to stay current in your field.
Skills and Experience:
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrable understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic systems, with in-depth knowledge of powertrains and machinery.
- Instruction Compliance: Ability to read, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Team Collaboration: Strong teamwork skills to achieve shared objectives.
- Instrumentation Knowledge: Proficient in the application of various instrumentation tools.
- Effective Communication: Excellent communication skills to liaise with various organisational levels.
- Flexibility: Fully adaptable approach to job roles and responsibilities.
- Tool Proficiency: Skilled in the use of hand/power tools, lifting, and welding equipment.
- Training Ready: Willingness to undergo necessary training and learning.
Qualifications:
- Engineering Background: Apprenticeship in engineering or motor mechanics with relevant work experience.
- Education: Working towards or having completed relevant higher education (NVQ Level 3).
- PC Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and CAT-designed software.
- Additional Skills: Experience with machine/engine hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic/problem-solving.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Prior experience in maintenance and repair of off-highway or large goods vehicles.
- Electrical Principles: Strong understanding of core electrical principles.
