Are you an experienced Social Worker within a Leaving Care Team, passionate about ensuring the young people you work with receive the help they need? If so, Darlington Borough Council are looking for a Social Worker to cover the 14+ Leaving Care team in the Darlington area. The contract is initially for 3 months however this may be extended.

You will be working within a supportive team with a committed leadership team which is focused on improving the outcomes of young people across Darlington.



This is a full time role working 37 hours per week over 5 days which also includes the option of flexible working



The successful candidate can expect an attractive pay rate of between £146.83-£181.75 per day.

As a Social Worker on the Leaving Care team you will be responsible for:

Carrying a complex caseload and maintaining accurate, up to date files
Working directly with and supporting young people aged 14+ and preparing them for leaving care
Carrying out initial / core assessments and reviews
Providing assistance registering with a doctor or dentist, applying for training courses or help getting back into education
Finding suitable accommodation and preparing young people for independent living
Attending safeguarding meetings
Report writing
Liaising with other professional bodies where appropriate
Setting high standards is key and must deliver excellent practice, motivating all staff to do the same.


The minimum requirements for this role are:

-HCPC Qualification

-Social Work Qualification

-Relevant Social Work experience

-Valid DBS check (this will be applied for you if not)
