        Design Engineer required on a contract basis to join an industry leading engineering and manufacturing business.Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the forefront of off engine technology? You will be working on a multitude of projects to develop designs that meet the both regulatory and customer requirements.As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for the design of engine components and systems to release to production production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, optimised cost and serviceability. You will partner with and provide technical guidance to global teams and suppliers whilst contributing to the planning and delivery of projects.Key responsibilities:Conceives and provides practical product design applications using complex technical principlesPrepares concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of complex engineering projectsRelease of product designs into engineering systems to a high quality and defect free standardLeads the design, analysis, and simulation elements. Prepares and maintains personal plans and is responsible for meeting scheduled datesActs as the lead designer by interacting with Plant locations and various engineering departmentsConducts technical evaluations of major systems on competitive products.Supports product tests with prove design and prototype build up and test component/system designsProvides guidance to other engineers responsible for portions of the project to ensure schedules are metEvaluates, defines, and resolves design and manufacturing problemsTravels to foreign and domestic plants, dealerships, and customer job sites to solve design problems or to field test locations to evaluate a product improvement (Covid permitting)Uses technical expertise and product knowledge to play the leadership role in the problem resolution process when interfacing with Test and Evaluation, Service, Plant personnel, suppliers, and consultantsWorks with manufacturability teams resolving problems with manufacturing and statistical process controlsExperience required:You will demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and determination to resolve issues while maintaining high quality standards in both design and component detailing, ensuring designs are validated to meet functional and technical requirements. In order to do this you will be experienced in solid modelling (ideally CREO), geometric tolerancing and engineering data management systems. The ability to work in a hands-on environment for issue resolution and design development is strongly desired. You will need to have strong communication and collaboration skills to enable cross functional development with the likes of Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Development Engineers and component suppliers.Creativity in generation of solutionsExcellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skillsUnderstanding of design for manufacturing / design for assembly philosophiesControl and communication of cost, quality, and schedule constraintsWorking knowledge of solid modelling (ideally CREO and Teamcenter)Engineering Degree Qualification or HND with experience Randstad CPE values diversity and promotes equality.
