        We are currently recruiting for a HR Assistant to come and join a Public Sector team based in Newport working 37 hours a week, Monday - Friday. This is a temporary role that will be up until 31st March 2021. Job PurposeTo support the provision of an effective and efficient high level human resource and payroll service to the Council.Key Results AreasJob Responsibilities: To provide appropriate advice and guidance to managers, headteachers and employees on policy and procedures relating to the human resource area.To provide a comprehensive recruitment and selection process, including: liaising with managers in the review and preparation of job descriptions/requirements and interview processes including all related correspondence; issuing of appointment letters, written statements of particulars, and starter packs; providing advice on policy, process, conditions of service and outcomes of pre-employment checks.To complete all pre-employment checks including obtaining references and processing DBS disclosures.To be responsible for the processing of all new employees, terminations and contract variations into the HR & payroll system (iTrent) and to issue relevant correspondence including letters relating to contractual change and termination of employment.To assist in the monitoring of employee attendance, liaising with managers and occupational health as appropriate.To administer a highly effective Occupational Health service including health screening i.e. by liaising with Occupational Health providers to manage the appointment process, sending and receiving correspondence and maintaining appropriate recording / storage systems.To administer the company's flexible working hours scheme, including the production of ID cards, dealing with day to day enquiries, updating guides and systems as necessary.To assist as required in relation to the disciplinary and grievance process and appeal mechanism, including arranging of meetings, preparation of documentation and collation of statistical data.To provide support as required in relation to training administration, i.e. - maintaining records of attendance in the HR & Payroll System (iTrent).To advise managers and employees on correct human resource. To report any instances where procedures are being disregarded to the Senior Support Officer. Essential Skills: Must have experience of using ITrent HR and Payroll systemMinimum of 5 GCSE's (A-C) or NVQ Level 2 or equivalentKnowledge of standard computer software, including work processing and spreadsheetsRelevant experience of working within a busy office environmentExperience of dealing with telephone enquiriesExperience of using a range of IT systems including Word, Excel, email and internet within the workplaceIf you feel you are right for the role and have the desired skills apply today!
