Secondary English / EAL Teacher

Required: August 2019

Location: Tongxiang (Near Shanghai), China

Region: Far East and Asia

Curriculum: UK Curriculum

Experience: Two years post qualifying at time of application

Sponsorship: Single applicants preferred unless more than one vacancy.

Salary: Based on experience and up to £42,000 - very competitive

Contract: 2 years renewable

Location Overview:

Tongxiang is a very scenic town, 45 minutes from Shanghai on fast train. It offers a slightly quieter pace of life but with the attractions of Shanghai not too far away. The location is known for its fascinating ancient culture and is a hub for Music (Opera). Its location by the River Delta means its full of canals and is the "Venice of China".


You should be a qualified teacher with a minimum of two years post qualifying experience in order to teach in China. An ability to teach Orchestra and Violin is highly desirable for this post. UK experience is highly desirable. You should have an inquiry based approach to your teaching and an ability to work well within a variety of cultures. Previous experience of working with EAL (Students with English as their second language is desirable). As a new school you will need to be adaptable and flexible and have a positive approach to life, willing to contribute to the continuing development of this great school.

Package: A good starting salary up to £42,000 per annum is offered depending on qualifications and experience; flights, furnished housing and medical cover included.
