Secondary Science Teacher (to IGCSE level)
Required: August 2019
Location: Koje Island, South Korea
Region: Far East and South East Asia
Curriculum: IPC / IMYC / GCSE / IB
Experience: 2+ years post qualification experience
Sponsorship: Single or married teachers with or without children
Salary: From KRW30,640,000 to 39,640,000 per annum
Contract: 2 years renewable

School Vision / Ethos: This is a not-for-profit co-educational international school in South Korea. Initially starting out as a Primary school, this school has built upon their successful IMYC middle years section and opened IGCSE classes in August 2018 and is due to open IB classes in August 2019. This is a truly international school with students from all over the world. The school has excellent facilities for up to 540 students. There are 27 classrooms, a gymnasium, a large library, a science lab, music and art rooms, dedicated play areas for older and younger children, outdoor soccer pitch, basketball court, running track, rooftop garden, parents lounge and a cafeteria.

Location Overview: Located on a small island off the coast of Busan connected by a series of highways, tunnels and bridges (all superb engineering feats) is the city of Okpo. A small fishing village just 25 years ago it has over time emerged as a fully fledged city, still manageable but growing daily! Okpo serves the needs of one of the largest ship yards and docks in the world and draws an international collection of workers to its shores to work in the ship building and oil industry on the island. Busan has an international airport and regular flights to; Japan, Shanghai, the Philippines and Thailand amongst many other destinations.

Requirements:



* Teachers must be fully qualified with a minimum of two years of full time class teaching experience.
* Experience will ideally be in a similar type of school environment, such as an international school with a high level of understanding of the needs of EAL students in an international school environment.
* Based in a brand new 'state of the art' science lab and will be joining the secondary department in its second year of introducing IGCSE subjects. You will be required to teach to IGCSE level, and also teach the middle years ( 7,8 and 9) which uses the IMYC. Candidates will ideally have experience teaching IMYC and/or an inquiry/cross curricular/problem solving philosophy and experience approach for the Middle Years classes
* Teachers should be able to teach at least science at ' A ' Level
* Teachers need to be flexible, creative and open minded in their approach to teaching
* Teachers should be skilled in differentiation, have excellent team working and collaborative skills, show a commitment to school life and co-curricular programmes and to ongoing professional learning and skills development.
