Job: QTS Teacher of the Deaf Primary Education

Location: Preston

Reports to: Head Teacher

Responsible for:

The teaching and learning of hearing impaired children placed within the Specialist Primary School

Main Purpose:



* Teaching, assessing and monitoring HI pupils within the School.
* To use specialist teaching skills with pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis to develop language and listening skills in accordance with parental wishes.
* To work in a mainstream Primary classroom
* To work collaboratively with the families as well as outside agencies to maximise the opportunities to develop the independence, communication and learning of the young people.

Main Activities:



* This post falls under the terms and condition of employment for teachers.
* The post holder will be required to hold QTS and hold the mandatory TOD qualification.
* To ensure that the special educational needs of individual children are met within an inclusive environment that allows them access to the National Curriculum in accordance with the provisions of the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2014) (SENCOP) and Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
* Teaching, Assessment and Monitoring.
* To work with school to develop teaching strategies, approaches, specialist materials and resources to support HI pupils.
* To regularly plan with school staff and other agencies to advise on specific strategies and specialist equipment to individual pupils.
* To monitor and maintain records of teaching, meetings, planning and pupil progress.
