A lovely SEN Primary School in Wakefield is looking to appoint a new teacher to their team of supportive staff. The school is in need of an experienced teacher who is able to come in and work with one of the small classes of children. The children are all KS2, however they are working at Early Years level and so experience teaching this curriculum is necessary.

Working with children with SEND and social-emotional needs is a rewarding career in which you will teach, guide and support students who may find everyday tasks challenging. The successful applicant will be required to teach children with a variety of SEND needs, leading the class and planning their days to effectively engage the children with their work and learning. This is a long term role until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent.

The role will include:
Planning, preparing and delivering engaging lessons
Assisting children in the class to make sure they are on track
Liaising with support staff to ensure the smooth running of the class
Supporting the general well-being of the students
Monitoring and evaluating learners' learning
Enabling learners to access the curriculum through a variety of techniques
Fully utilising the Teaching Assistant within the classroom to support aspects of teaching and behaviour management

Qualified teacher status essential
Team Teach training is ideal but not essential
Moving and handling training is ideal but not essential
The ablility to work with learners with various learning difficulties
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
An understanding of children with special needs
Flexibility in your approach to education
KS2,3,4 experience ideal
