A lovely SEN Secondary School in Wakefield is looking to appoint a new teacher to their team of supportive staff. The school is in need of an experienced teacher who is able to come in and work with one of the small classes of children. The children are all secondary-school age but are working at KS2 level, and so the successful applicant will require KS2 curriculum experience.

Working with children with SEND and social-emotional needs is a rewarding career in which you will teach, guide and support students who may find everyday tasks challenging. The successful applicant will be required to teach children with complex needs, leading the class and planning their days to effectively engage the children with their work and learning. This is a long-term role until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

The role will include:
Planning, preparing and delivering engaging lessons
Assisting children in the class to make sure they are on track
Liaising with support staff to ensure the smooth running of the class
Supporting the general well-being of the students
Monitoring and evaluating students' progress
Enabling learners to access the curriculum through a variety of techniques
Fully utilising the support of the Teaching Assistant to help with aspects of teaching and behaviour management

Qualified teacher status essential
Team Teach training essential
The ability to work with children with various learning difficulties
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
An understanding of children with special needs
Flexibility in your approach to education
KS2,3,4 experience ideal
