Are you looking for a rewarding role supporting a young student on a one-to-one basis? Can you support a child expressing challenging behaviours? Have you got experience working with children with SEND or additional needs? If so, we would like to hear from you!

A well established Designated Specialist Provision is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. They are looking to find someone who can work with a vulnerable year 9 students within their setting. The role will require a strong understanding of KS3 curriculum, and be able to support the student with both their learning and their social-emotion needs. The school accommodates for pupils with SEND diagnoses, SEMH and SEBD needs who struggle to access mainstream education. Working one-to-one with a vulnerable student is very rewarding. Watching your student grow and reach their goals with your help is very fulfilling. The successful applicant will have a patient and caring disposition; with the ability to quickly build meaningful relationships with students and their staff team. This is a long term contract until Christmas, with the potential to extend.

The role will include:
Supporting the student with educational needs in class, as well as with their social/emotional needs throughout the day
Manage behaviour in line with the schools behaviour policy
Work proactively with other team members including the class teacher, other teaching assistants, and support staff
Ensure the safeguarding of all students

Requirements:
Experience of working with young people with SEMH/SEBD needs or vulnerable young people
Be comfortable in managing challenging behaviour and confidence in your ability to control it
Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people
Be creative, proactive and flexible in their supporting style
To be able to provide a nurturing and caring connection with the vulnerable student
