Are you experienced in working with children who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties?

A specialised school in the Brighton area is looking for a teaching assistant to join their thriving and exciting setting.
You will be working with students aged 11- 16 years old. Your role would be to mentor and support students who have a range of social and emotional difficulties. The role requires someone who is resilient and is able to positively make a difference to student's lives.

Your responsibilities will include:
Support the pastoral needs of the learners
Be an active part in setting the learning environment
Assist students during class making sure they are on track
Liaise with class teacher to ensure a smooth running class
Supporting learners on a 1:1 base and part of a small group in a range of activities through out the day

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and capabilities:
Be flexible in their approach to education
Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team
Have an understanding of the students with emotional needs
Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties
Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects
