Do you have experience working with early years children in an Autistic setting?
Do you have the patience and resilience to work in a very lively setting?
Do you have an understanding of the difficulties and strengths that come with Autism?

A specialised school in Burgess Hill for learners between the ages of 5 and 15 years is looking for a special needs teaching assistant to support the needs of their learners. The majority of students are on the Autistic spectrum and have social and emotional difficulties which do come with challenges as well as strengths.

Your role as an SEN teaching assistant will be to support and guide the students through their school day making sure they have a fun, safe and educational experience because no day will be the same!

Your responsibilities will include:
Ability to work in small groups or 1:1
Liaise with teacher to ensure smooth running of class
Supporting the teacher with daily lessons
Support teacher with planning to enable your work with small groups
Supporting learners in accessing the curriculum

Ability to be flexible
Good numeracy and literacy skills
Ability to deal with challenging learners
An understanding of different special needs and associated challenges
Ability to create a positive and safe environment which promotes the learners education
