A specialised school and college in the Guildford area are recruiting for a passionate teaching assistant to support the educational needs of their learners - making sure that education is fun, inspiring at the same time as creating a safe environment for the students to learn. The majority of students are on the Autistic spectrum and are aged from 5 and 19 years. You will be joining a warm and welcoming group of staff and very supportive management. The position is full time and permanent, with a February start.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting a small of group learners educationally and pastorally
* Encourage learners to be independent
* Comfortable with, and confident to, work directly with students
* Positive and compassionate attitude towards learners

The ideal candidate may posses the following skills and capabilities:

* Experience working within SEN settings is desirable but not essential
* To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
* To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
* To work individually with students to develop work
* To support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
* To monitor and evaluate students' learning under the guidance of the teacher
* To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
* To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas
