Within the Haywards Heath area the school is set in its own beautiful grounds. The residential special school caters for students with a range of learning needs and has a fully enhanced curriculum. The aim of the school is to help the individual's access and progress with their independence. The school provides a fantastic holistic approach to education encompassing teaching and learning with a therapy input.
This specialised school is a non-maintained residential special school located in Haywards Heath, designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs for boys (age 6-13 years). The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
The school is looking for a full time teaching assistant starting from September who is willing to make a difference and can engage student in their primary unit.

Your role as an SEN teaching assistant will include:
 To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
 To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
 To work individually with learners/students to develop work.
 To support the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
 To monitor and evaluate learners' learning under the guidance of the teacher
 To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
 To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas


Key skills and experience needed:
 Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties.
 Have an understanding of the students with special needs.
 Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners.
 Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects.
 The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team.
 Be flexible in their approach to education.
 Have experience working in SEND settings.
 Experience working with children is essential.
