A friendly SEN Primary School in Keighley is looking for an empathetic, engaging and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, to provide essential and life-changing support to their pupils with learning difficulties. The successful applicant will have experience managing a class of children with SEN needs, complex medical needs and challenging behaviour. Daily tasks will include supporting the students individually and in groups with core subjects and development exercises, keeping them engaged and on task with their learning. The successful applicant will have experience working in specialist schools, and be able to take part in supporting children with hydrotherapy, rebound therapy, personal care and other daily routines. This is a long term position until summer, with the potential to become permanent.

The role will include:
Providing assistance to the class teacher
Managing small groups of children independently
Alternate work in a variety of classes with varying abilities
Supporting the general well-being of the students in the school
Monitoring and evaluating pupils' learning under the guidance of the teacher
Assisting the teachers in the use of relevant management strategies, maintaining a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place

Requirements:
SEN TA experience
A desire to encourage children to succeed
A caring, patient and calm personality
The ability to work with students with a variety of learning difficulties
An understanding of children with special needs
Flexibility in your approach to education
Team teach qualification ideal but not essential
Makaton or PECS communication training (ideal but not essential)
