Do you want to make a difference in children's path through education? Can you provide support and guidance to a child struggling to access mainstream education? Did you answer yes? The read on for more details!

This position involves working on a one-to-one basis with a child who is unable to attend school due to mental health and medical needs. Therefore, the successful applicant needs to have experience working with vulnerable children and confident with tutoring a student in KS3 curriculum.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful applicant will have a car with business insurance as it will be required to drive to and from the school, to the student's home and to the library. This role offers you the opportunity to make a real difference to young people who are in need of some focused support and guidance through a difficult time in their lives. It is a rewarding and exciting opportunity for someone who has a desire to make a difference in children's lives and education. This is a long-term role to start in the New Year. Throughout the role, you will receive continued support from the school, with morning meetings and debriefs at the end of the day.

The role will include:
Establishing constructive relationships with the student on a one-to-one basis
Following the positive behaviour plans and teaching plans for the student
Maintain a positive working environment with the student
Develop a clear understanding of the specific needs of the student and incorporate this into your teaching style
Recognising signs of distress in children, offering reassurance and de-escalating the situation to best of your ability
Assist the school in communicating with parent and carers using the appropriate approach
Driving to and from several locations

Key skills and experience needed:
KS 3 and 4 experience is essential as you will be teaching the student 1:1
Car owner and able to get business insurance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to and passion for working with vulnerable children
Experience working with vulnerable/ at-risk children or young adults
The ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour
Able to work with learners with various learning difficulties
Flexibility in approach to educating and supporting children
Team teach trained desired but not essential
