Python Developer

Are you interested in using your technical skills to support an organisation who use data to support sustainable development and eradicate poverty?

Our client uses open data to improve international development and humanitarian resources. They're at a hugely exciting time where they're building the technology that will help them become even more renowned in their field. This presents a mix of opportunities and challenges within software development and open data movement, as their data grows exponentially and becomes increasingly complex.

What you'll be doing



* Leading a small development team who both build new and improve existing open-source software for a socially responsible organisation.
* Improve the quality of that software through incremental refactoring.
* Improve understanding of significant data-sets through the products you would maintain and support.
* Work with technical experts from foundations, NGOs, governments, and development agencies to improve the range of tools and data available to their end users.
* Tracking, analysing, fixing and reporting software bugs and issues.
* Participating in technical discussions and work to improve the development standards.
* Mentor, support and lead a team of junior developers.

What you need



* Good knowledge of Python (including Flask and Django) and SQL.
* Strong understanding of software design principles.
* An ability to write scalable code that is well tested.
* Exposure or demonstrable interest in open data projects and/or standards.
* Proven ability to mentor, lead and support junior developers.
* Good knowledge of front end JavaScript technologies would be advantageous.
