Are you an experienced Service Manager within Children's Social Services, passionate about ensuring the families you work with receive the help they need? If so, Cumbria County Council are looking for a Service Manager to cover the Support and Protection Teams Covering the Barrrow and Furness and Kendal areas.

The contract is initially 6 months however, may be extended.

You will be working within a supportive team with a committed leadership team which is focused on improving the outcomes of families across South Cumbria.

As a Service Manager for the Assessment Service, you will be responsible for the day to day management of Team Managers, Social Workers and Newly Qualified Social Workers.

This is a full time role working 5 days per week.

The successful candidate can expect attractive pay rates of £350-£500 per day.

As a Service Manager you will be responsible for:



* Reporting directly to the Director of Social Care, As a Service Manager you would Responsible of managing several Child protection Teams within the authority. This would involve the day to day management of Team Managers and Social Workers both experienced and Newly Qualified who have responsibility of a caseload of children's safeguarding including, child protection, child in need and looked after children within the Initial Response Service.


* To be responsible for the decision making ensuring that there is a framework for reviewing compliance with the plans made.


* To challenge service decisions where necessary to fulfil an agreed care plan and to use statutory powers to escalate to senior management and external bodies where appropriate.



* As a Service Manager you would deliver Service Improvements and lead significant change across statutory social care services. As part of your role you would need to engage the workforce and key partners and be a self motivated leader who understands the authority requirements.



* Setting high standards is key and must deliver excellent practice, motivating all staff to do the same.

The minimum requirements for this role are:

-HCPC Qualification

-Social Work Qualification

-Experienced at a Senior Manager level within Children's Services
