A friendly, inclusive pupil referral unit is currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to start in their school as soon as possible. The school is located in Bradford and accommodates for pupils aged 7-16 with Social Emotional, Mental Health and Behavioural Difficulties who struggle to access mainstream education. Pupils may also have a statement of Special Educational Needs. This is a full-time role to work in the classrooms with the students, class teacher, and the other teaching assistants. Working with vulnerable students who need extra support is a very rewarding career, watching the students grow and reach their goals with your help is very fulfilling. The successful applicant will have a patient and caring disposition; with the ability quickly build meaningful relationships with students and their staff team, as well as the ability to remain resilient when dealing with the challenging behaviour these children present.

The role will include:
Supporting students with educational needs in class, as well as with their social/emotional needs throughout the day
Manage behaviour in line with the schools behaviour policy
Work proactively with other team members including the class teacher, other teaching assistants, and support staff
Ensure the safeguarding of students

Requirements:
Experience of working with vulnerable young people or children with additional needs
Be comfortable in managing challenging behaviour and confidence in your ability to control it
Ability to engage with, and build rapport with young people
To be able to provide a pastoral and caring connection with the vulnerable student
Resilient when facing challenges, the ability to deal calmly when faced with difficult behaviour from students.
