There is a warm and welcoming Pupil Referral Unit in Bradford who is currently looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to start in their school ASAP. The school is located in East Bradford and accommodates for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to a range of social, emotional, behavioural, and mental health reasons. It is a secondary aged setting, with children's ages ranging from 11 through to 18 years old.

The position is a full time, long term placement, with the potential to extend into a permanent role. The successful applicant will be working with vulnerable students who need extra support from someone with a patient and caring disposition: they must have the ability to build meaningful relationships and remain resilient when dealing with the challenging behaviour these children present.

The role will include:
Supporting students with educational needs in class, as well as with their social/emotional needs throughout the day
Managing behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy
Working proactively with other team members including the class teacher, other teaching assistants, and support staff
Ensuring the safeguarding of students

Experience of working with vulnerable young people or children with additional needs
Proficiency in managing challenging behaviour and confidence in your ability to control it
The ability to engage with and build rapport with young people
The ability to develop a pastoral and caring connection with the vulnerable student
Resilience when facing challenges and the ability to deal calmly with difficult behaviour from students.
Team teach training or equivalent (essential)
Teaching assistant experience (ideal)
