job description

Are you a qualified teacher of Spanish looking for a new challenge? Would a subject leader position in a 'Good' school, which has strong and effective leadership at all levels, and a reputation for enhancing an individual's teaching ability, be the stepping stone you require to further your career? If so then please get in touch.

Randstad Education is a market leader in Education sector recruitment, and here at the Chelmsford branch we offer work in teaching and support, at primary and secondary schools across the county of Essex.

Currently, we are working closely with a large secondary school in the Southend area, which is a National Support School. It is part of a 'teaching schools alliance', meaning it specialises in developing teaching, adopting a systematic approach to helping teachers improve. The leadership team and governors are committed to ensuring more and more lessons are outstanding, and procedures for monitoring this are well developed. As a result, students' achievement is always improving.

The school are looking for a lead teacher of Spanish, to work on a full time, permanent basis from January 2018. The successful candidate will work with the senior leadership team to ensure staff in the department devise and deliver rich teaching tasks, which provide additional opportunities for the development of students' independent learning and problem solving skills. You must be a strong leader with the ability to inspire both staff and students. You will teach Key Stage 3 and 4 and develop Key Stage 5 for the future.

Successful candidates will:

*have a good track record in teaching Spanish up to key stage 4, with the ability to teach key stage 5 being an advantage
*display the ambition and drive to improve their teaching and move into a position of responsibility, and be open to receiving the guidance and training for this to take place
*be able to teach pupils of all levels, particularly at key stage 3, with a view to progressing all students so by the time they are in year 11 they are reaching levels above national averages
*be a team player and be able to both support and learn from other teachers within the school
*show respect for the learning cohort which in turn breeds respect for staff and creates a courteous community
*plan lessons which challenge low ability pupils to improve while at them same time stretching more-able students
*consistently mark work to ensure all students make good progress

The school can offer effective support, something they also extend to other schools, which in turn means they learn from those other schools and pass this best practice on to their own teachers. This creates a strong culture of improvement and belief in ability. Successful features are focussed on, enhanced and trained so they become consistent throughout the staff.

Working through Randstad Education you will receive competitive rates of pay and your own tailored consultative service. We offer career advice and guidance, and a wide business network which includes secondary schools across Essex, 25 or so branches of Randstad Education across the UK, and international links through our sister company, TeachAnywhere, which offers teaching positions across the world. If you would like to hear more about this, or any other opportunities in Essex, please give us a call!
