Are you a passionate, confident and strong willed Staff Nurse with the desire to work flexibly in a setting you can enjoy and thrive in? A Specialist Care Unit in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear currently require a Staff Nurse to work day shifts during the week and weekends. The unit provides specialist care for residents with various disabling illnesses including Huntington's disease, acquired brain injury and dementia.

As a Staff Nurse working in a Residential Nursing environment you will often be the Staff Nurse in charge and responsible for administering medication, caring for residents and attending to their needs. You will also be responsible for alerting senior management, GP's, Hospitals if their is a change to one of the residents health or you are concerned about anything.

The role is completely flexible and can work around work, family and personal commitments.
Shifts are usually:
-8pm-8am or 8am-8pm (1 hour break)

The home offers free parking, access to local public transport and local amenities.

Specialist training is available at a reduced rate for competencies such as; peg feeds, syringe drivers and verification of death.

The role requires qualified and experienced Registered Staff Nurses (RMN/RGN/RNLD) with an active NMC pin, experience in a similar setting is preferable but not essential.

As a Staff Nurse you will be responsible for:
-Administering medication to residents within the required time scales
-Changing dressings/ assisting care assistants
-Completing daily observations/notes
-Updating care plans
-Using the unit's system to record data and manage appointments for residents

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate:
-An understanding of the role required from a Nurse in a home environment.
-Excellent verbal and written communication
-Ability to work well as part of a team and take the lead when needed.
-The minimum requirements for this role are:
- NMC registered
- Nursing qualification (Mental Health)
