Standby gritters between October 28th 2017 - April 14th 2017

Standby Payments per week from 07:30 Friday Morning

£105 per week

£150 per week for week 23rd December 2016 to 30th December 2016

£150 per week for week 30th December 2016 to 6th January 2017

NB if not available for gritting £22 per day will be deducted for each day not available and will be paid to the person who covers.

All employees who undertake winter maintenance duties are required to give the Duty officer a minimum of 3 days notice of whether you will be attending and if you are not available the name of the person who will undertake your standby. During snow situations all trained drivers may be required and will if necessary be put on standby.

If you are off sick for part of the week, you will not be able to undertake winter maintenance duties for the rest of the week unless agreed by Depot Managers.

Grit runs

City and Guilds 6159 Winter Maintenance Training - desirable but training will be given

Duties to include:

Preparing the vehicle for the spreading of salt, including the following if applicable -Standard vehicle checks, such as lights, brakes, filling of pre wet tanks on the vehicle, refuelling of the vehicle.

Present themselves to the weighbridge/load all operator at a suitable time to allow the vehicle to be filled with salt.

Ensure the vehicle is weighed, using the depot facility, before leaving the depot.

Be aware of the maximum loaded weight of the vehicle and ensure that they do not leave the depot with the vehicle overloaded and be responsible for removing any excess weight from the vehicle and re-weighing before leaving the depot.

Run the route as per the specific route map supplied.

Ensure the route is completed by the time specified by the given instruction.

Ensure that the route will be run at the instructed spread rate and that the spreader is turned off and on at the appropriate points in the route to ensure that only the lengths of the road are treated as per the latest version of the route map.

Ensure the vehicle is weighed on returning to the depot.

Remove all excess salt from the vehicle in a predetermined area.

Ensure the vehicle is cleaned as well as possible. Removing any demountable body, or spinner etc.

Completion of timesheets at the end of every shift completing all fields
