Are you a hard working social worker keen to progress your career in fostering ? Our client is an ethical not for profit fostering agency with a strong reputation and track record for providing high quality, value for money fostering placements for looked after children.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified social worker to join a successful fostering team. You will have the knowledge and skills to undertake the full range of Supervising Social Worker tasks, including supervising foster carers, working with other professionals, report writing and attendance at meetings. Not only will you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills you will also be hardworking, positive, and motivated to improve outcomes for looked after children.

This post is a Permanent contract based in the Chester-le-Street Office

The successful candidate would be responsible for...

* Providing professional supervision and developmental support, including advice and guidance to fostering families and colleagues from other agencies where appropriate, including being part of an Out of Hours Service (through participation in rota)

* Completing complex assessments of foster carers, making appropriate recommendations, which may require liaison or referral of complex cases to the Team Manager, with a view to ensure outcome focused achievements for children, young people and families.

* Supporting fostering families to look after children and young people who have experienced trauma and abuse, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to enable them to undertake this complex task within a family home environment.

* Being accountable for ensuring statutory compliance in respect of notifications, etc and meet regulatory body requirements at all times re registration.

* Coaching, mentoring and teaching staff to ensure the provision of a responsive, high quality and customer focused operation to children, young people, their families and partner agencies- This role may involve deputising for the Team Manager when required for staff members who plan to progress within the organisation.

* Maintaining and developing effective working relationships with internal colleagues in the wider organisation and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for children, young people and their families.

In order to be considered for this role, you should have:

* Proven experience in delivering statutory children's social care services you will have knowledge of social care children's legislation and be confident in delivering the best outcomes and decisions on behalf of service users.
* A Social Work Qualification - Degree/Masters/CCETSW
* HCPC registration and valid Enhanced DBS
